Things You Should Never Do Around Your Macaws.

If You love and want to care for your Macaws youshould NEVER give them or any other birds any type of the following items:  Alcohol, Caffeine, Chocolate, Apple Seed's , Peach , Apricot and Cherry Pits or Avocado's as they are all poisonous to birds in any form!

You should also avoid any type of salty foods, as they will harm your bird's internal heath.  Avoid giving them, any high sugar content foods as well, because it can affect your parrot's feather health and quality.  Foods that are high in saturated fats that do not occur naturally such as anything that has been fried or buttered as well as cakes, sweets, ice cream or whipped cream etc.

Instead, you can and should offer them fresh in shell unsalted nuts. A good choice that all macaws love are In the shell macadamia nuts. They are high in the good types of fat that birds should have included in their diets.

NEVER SMOKE anywhere near a parrot or any other bird! All bird's are extremely sensitive to smoke. All smoke is poisonous, especially cigarette smoke.  It contains hundreds of chemicals that will damage and destroy a bird's lung tissue, and it will kill them!  Likewise, Kitchen smoke can kill your macaw or any other bird!

It is equally harmful to any other type of animal or family pet as well!

PLEASE BE WARNED:

Never use a NON-STICK TEFLON COATED PAN OR POT. ANY Nonstick coatings contain polytetrafluoroethelyne (PTFE) These types of pots & pans when heated emit a deadly odorless vapor's that will kill your bird in a matter of minutes!   THIS IS NO JOKE !

Also, please remember that cleaning your oven in the vicinity of your parrot's "Can and Will Kill Them". Due to the non-stick surfaces used inside the oven when heated cause a toxic vapor to be released, as well as the harmful chemicals used in the cleaning products themselves.

There are several Bird Safe Cooking Products available that present no risk to your beloved flock. Please use them in your house hold for your bird's sake. Avoid Tragedy.  Your Parrots deserve not to be accidentally gassed to death by their unsuspecting owners..

Non-Stick Cookware Alternatives:

• Stainless steel
• Copper-clad stainless steel
• Copper
• Corningware, the classic, white oven-to-table ware
• Glass or pyrex
• Aluminum
• Cast iron

It is also not a good idea to let your birds eat any food from your mouth.  Do not give your birds anything that comes out of your mouth or that you have chewed for them. It's much better to mash it with a fork so that they can eat it safely as birds can be susceptible to the vast amounts of bacteria present in the human mouth. It can cause the bird to become ill and perhaps even die.

Aerosol Sprays, Scented Candle's, Air or Room Freshener's, Perfume's and Deodorants, Hair Spray, incents, and any Ozone creating products are very harmful to all Parrots. Remember, the smaller the bird the MORE SENSITIVE they are to all of these toxic health hazards.

Lastly, there are also some other very dangerous items in and around your home that should be bird proofed, much like you would do for a small child. Top of the list would have to be electrical cords. Please make sure that your parrot cannot get to any electrical cords or wires. Even if the appliance is turned off, there is still current flowing through the wires. Needless to say if a bird chews through an electrical wire it could mean instant death. You can buy flexible metal conduit that you can use to protect the wiring on things like your cage lighting that need to be parrot proofed.
